After several years of development efforts, the rail-served Cheyenne Logistics Hub is set to get under way next year at Swan Ranch in Wyoming.

The McMurry family, which owns 7,200 acres along Interstates 25 and 80, and Granite Peak Development are developing the 1,500-acre industrial component of the hub. A Union Pacific Railroad line borders the hub to the west, and BNSF Railway Co. line borders the facility to the south and east.

A manufacturing company recently entered into an agreement to build a 55-acre plant in the hub primarily because of the rail access, according to Granite Peak Development.

In April, the developers plan to begin constructing roads and installing utilities for the hub. Construction on the manufacturing facility also is scheduled to start in April, then conclude one year later.

The hub will include a transloading facility that will be operated by the Bighorn Divide & Wyoming Railroad, which currently operates three short-line yards in Wyoming.
