Yesterday, Canadian National Railway Co. announced it created a single bulk commodities business unit by consolidating U.S. grain, fertilizers and coal, and Canadian grain and fertilizers units into one entity. The Class I named Vice President of Canadian Grain and Fertilizers Ross Goldsworthy VP of bulk commodities to head the unit.

The consolidation "recognizes that many of our bulk customers have operations, or serve markets, on both sides of the Canada/U.S. border and offshore," said Jim Foote, CN executive vice president of sales and marketing, in a prepared statement.

Now reporting to Foote, Goldsworthy joined CN in 1981, serving in increasingly responsible positions in finance, strategic planning, and sales and marketing.

"This streamlined new organization will position CN to help grain, fertilizer, and coal customers improve their competitiveness in domestic and international markets through our continued focus on service, product innovation, efficient operations and improved asset utilization," said Goldsworthy.
