Today, Canadian Pacific Railway opened a new crew lodge in North Portal, Saskatchewan. The 16,500-square-foot, two-story facility features 40 bedrooms with individual restrooms and showers, a kitchen/dining area, and locker, exercise and game, computer and laundry rooms.

The lodge — which replaces an outdated building formerly located on the same site — will be staffed around the clock. Each day, about 65 Canadian and U.S. employees will use the facility.

“This modern rest house provides our train crews on both sides of the border various comforts to rest and relax between shifts,” said Dave Hoppenreys, CPR’s Saskatchewan service area manager for field operations, in a prepared statement.
