Canadian association pursues 'common vision' for rail's future (5/18/2011)

Yesterday, the Railway Association of Canada (RAC) announced it has launched a new corporate brand, including a new logo, tag line, visual identity and website, as part of a “Rail 2030” initiative aimed at developing a common industry vision for rail’s future.

Association officials believe the intent of the new brand is captured in the tagline, “Moving People, Goods and the Economy.” Rail 2030 seeks to “unlock the potential of Canada's freight and passenger rail for a better economy and society,” according to the RAC.

The rail industry needs to work together with stakeholders such as ports, terminals and shippers to jointly determine solutions that help advance rail as a backbone of Canada’s transportation sector, RAC officials said in a prepared statement.

"We are developing a bold vision for 21st century transportation that communicates the role rail can play in improving the supply chain, and advancing Canada's economic development and competitiveness," said RAC President and Chief Executive Officer Cliff Mackay. “Industry, government and academic researchers are actively examining new approaches and seeking solutions to address transportation challenges, such as infrastructure renewal, congestion, rising energy costs, environmental concerns and mobility.”
