OmniTRAX Inc.'s Newburgh & South Shore Railroad L.L.C. (NSR) has landed CEMEX as a new customer. CEMEX recently completed a cement facility along the short line's track in Cleveland.

CEMEX previously served the Cleveland area by truck from its facilities in Wampum, Pa., and Louisville, Ky. The new facility will reduce the company's transportation costs and cut delivery time to customers in the region, OmniTRAX officials said in a prepared statement.

Founded in Mexico in 1906, CEMEX manufactures and distributes cement, ready-mix concrete and aggregate. The company's U.S. network includes 13 cement plants, 46 distribution terminals, more than 100 aggregate quarries and more than 450 ready-mix concrete plants.

NSR, which originally was established to serve U.S. Steel's Cleveland-area steel mills, interchanges with CSX Transportation and Norfolk Southern Railway.
