Fifth Canadian rail union ratifies CN agreement (4/11/2002)

4/11/2021

Canadian National Railway Co. April 10 announced that Canadian Council of Railway Operating Unions (CCROU) — comprising 1,900 Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and 3,000 United Transportation Union members — ratified a three-year collective agreement.

The agreement, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2001, includes wage increases, and benefit and productivity improvements.

CN currently has renewed agreements with five bargaining groups representing 13,000 unionized employees in Canada.

Rail Canada Traffic Controllers (RCTC) — which represents 250 CN train dispatchers and is the last union with which CN is seeking a new collective agreement — is conducting a ratification vote per a tentative agreement it reached with the railroad March 28. That pact would increase wages and improve benefits, and be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2001.
