On Feb. 24, Progressive Railroading will host a virtual summit on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues. And your RailPrime subscription nets you a complimentary registration.
A focus for more and more organizations worldwide, and for every publicly traded company in the transportation space, ESG “isn’t woke, it’s good business," as independent transportation analyst Tony Hatch noted last month in listing the subject in his “Top 10 Things He Hoped to Hear” in the recent round of Class I earnings calls.
The ESG summit will feature three presenters: CN Vice President of Sustainability Janet Drysdale, who’ll share and discuss sustainability Practices at CN; CSX Director of Fuel Strategy and Utilization Corey Davis, who’ll talk about the Class I’s fuel-saving strategies; and Wabtec Corp. Chief Commercial Officer – Americas Gina Trombley, with a session titled “New Power Options for Locomotives.”
Drysdale is responsible for CN’s integrated sustainability strategy, with associated goals designed to drive sustainable long-term business results, reduce risk, identify opportunities, encourage innovation, improve resiliency, and adapt to “emerging mega trends,” according to her bio. In collaboration with CN operations leadership, she also helps shape and foster the railroad’s safety culture through programs, practices, training, systems and technology.
The recipient of the 2020 John H. Chafee Environmental Excellence Award, Davis oversees efforts that have resulted in CSX driving down fuel usage by more than 8 percent between 2012 and 2018, according to the railroad. In one year, the savings have reduced fuel utilization by 32 million gallons, cutting carbon dioxide emissions by 332,000 tons.
Trombley, who has more than 30 years of experience in transportation, infrastructure, strategy, and business development, oversees Wabtec’s commercial sales and marketing, and all corporate strategy functions for the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Latin America.
The three-hour event, which will begin at 11 a.m. EST, is free to RailPrime subscribers (it’s $99 for everyone else).
