After 16 months outside the railroad industry, Fred Krebs is back. And he's returned to the short line he left to serve as vice president and general manager of Dallas-based TK Construction.
On Nov. 2, Krebs was named president and chief operating officer of 269-mile New York & Atlantic Railway Co. (NY&A), although his appointment was effective Oct. 30. He served as NY&A president and COO from 1997 until mid-2000.
Krebs replaces Jim Bridger (no information was released detailing Bridger's departure or future plans).
With 20 years' railroading experience, Krebs previously served as general manager for 213-mile San Joaquin Valley Railroad Co. — previously a StatesRail property now owned by RailAmerica Inc. — and in various operating positions for Canadian Pacific Railway.
"We're delighted to have Fred return to NY&A — he knows NY&A customers and operations, and is able to lead the company immediately," said Bruce Lieberman, NY&A chairman and chief executive officer, in a prepared statement.
