Add container handling to the capabilities of The Indiana Rail Road Co.’s (INRD) Senate Avenue Terminal in Indianapolis.

Last month, the 500-mile regional launched container service at the terminal located near Interstate 70, according to INRD’s fall newsletter. The railroad initially will handle about 4,500 containers at the facility.

The terminal also offers transloading services for aggregates, chemicals, lumber and other commodities.

The container-handling facility co-located at the terminal “opens the door for INRD to offer higher-value, premium logistics services,” INRD officials said in the newsletter.
