KCS to boot up Management Control System on Tex-Mex next month (3/18/2004)

3/18/2023

On April 1, Kansas City Southern plans to implement its Management Control System (MCS) computer platform on The Texas Mexican Railway Co.

MCS will help Tex-Mex operate a more disciplined and scheduled railway by improving shipment management, and providing more accurate and timely data, KCS officials believe. The system also will enable Tex-Mex to better plan, execute and evaluate its service to boost reliability.

In addition, a common KCS/Tex-Mex operating platform will provide NAFTA Railway customers more seamless service, according to a prepared statement.

In July 2002, KCS implemented MCS, which is designed to knit together shipment schedules through interchange using customers' own data.

KCS officials have spent months training and testing Tex-Mex employees on MCS to help ensure a smooth transition. During implementation, a team of MCS experts plan to support Tex-Mex customer service and field operations staff 24/7 to resolve cutover issues.

TFM S.A. de C.V. officials are considering whether to implement MCS or a different computer platform later this year.
