Operations chief Ed Harris becomes CN's third EVP (3/9/2005)

Canadian National Railway Co. recently promoted Ed Harris to executive vice president of operations. The railroad's senior vice president of operations since June 2003, Harris becomes CN's third EVP and joins the Class I's executive council.

He will continue to be responsible for U.S. and Canadian rail operations, and the Edmonton, Alberta, network operations center. Now, the SVPs for eastern and western Canada, and the United States will report to Harris.

He previously served as chief transportation officer and VP of the Midwest Division after CN acquired Illinois Central Railroad (IC) in July 1999. Prior to CN, Harris served IC as VP of operations, general manager of the northern region and southern region, and acting executive director of labor relations.
