Red River Valley & Western appoints Thompson president and COO (5/3/2006)

The Red River Valley & Western Railroad Co. (RRVW) recently promoted Senior Vice President and General Manager Andrew Thompson to president and chief operating officer. He reports to Chief Executive Officer William Drusch.

Prior to joining the 517-mile regional in March 2005 as the railroad’s first-ever SVP and GM, Thompson served BNSF Railway Co. and its predecessors for 27 years. His positions included vice president of packaged commodities, VP of aluminum and non-ferrous metals and ores, general manager of merchandise operations, assistant VP of transportation, division general manager, division superintendent, president of the Lake Superior Terminal, trainmaster and yardmaster.

RRVW was formed in 1987 after acquiring BNSF lines in central and southeastern North Dakota, and western Minnesota.
