In December, CSX launched its newest train inspection supersite in Pollard, Alabama, to help monitor traffic between Mobile and Birmingham. Now numbering nine, the Class I’s supersites feature several cutting-edge wayside devices and other technologies designed to collect critical rail-car data and monitor train equipment for proactive maintenance. They help the railroad continue to move goods quickly and safely to various destinations. This video describes the new supersite in Pollard and why the cluster of devices — including a wheel-impact load detector — is vital to CSX.
