The town of Victoria, Va., is closer to building a railroad-history themed recreation park on a 22-acre site that was donated to the town in 1963 by Norfolk & Western Railroad.

The project includes unearthing a former roundhouse's foundation to create a historic interpretation of the site, as well as landscaping and building a pavilion, picnic areas, playground and trails.

Victoria recently contracted TIMMONS to design and develop the site, which once housed a maintenance complex and yard that served as the area's hub even before the town was founded in 1909, according to a prepared statement.
