On Feb. 24, Progressive Railroading hosted a virtual summit on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues.
“We’re facing unprecedented pressure from all directions — customers, competitors, regulators, activists, investors and even the public in terms of sustainability,” said Wabtec Corp. Chief Commercial Officer – Americas Gina Trombley, one of three summit presenters. “But at the same time, we have never been in a better position to capitalize on the inherent advantages of rail transportation … combined with emerging technologies to reclaim our stake as the safest, most efficient, most sustainable mode to move freight by land.”
Trombley talked about some of those emerging technologies (and more) in a presentation titled “On Track to Zero Emissions.” Joining Trombley at the summit were CN Vice President of Sustainability Janet Drysdale and CSX Director of Fuel Strategy and Utilization Corey Davis.
