Jolene Molitoris of Ohio has been nominated by the Clinton Administration to be the new Federal Railroad Administrator.
Molitoris, who will be the first woman to head the FRA if she is confirmed by the U.S. Senate, headed the Ohio High Speed Rail Authority for a number of years and later was deputy director of Ohio's Department of Transportation, and head of the Rail Division. Under her leadership, Ohio initiated a rail-based industrial development program that affected 220 industries and 40,000 jobs.
Following her April nomination, Molitoris began working at the FRA as a consultant to get first-hand experience with the agency prior to her confirmation.
