February 2021
By Pat Foran, Editor
On Feb. 1, we launched RailPrime, a premium digital subscription designed to unpack all things freight rail.
A complement to Progressive Railroading’s monthly magazine and Daily News offerings, RailPrime will focus on what’s changing in and around the freight-rail realm — and, at times, what isn’t changing — and the consequences of same. And we’ll aim to illustrate, in all the ways a digital platform affords, why all of it matters.
RailPrime consists of quick hits and short pieces, trend data and other numbers-oriented nourishment. It’ll also be home to interviews and profiles of industry players (and soon-to-be players), feature articles that focus on the technology evolution, the rail workforce of the future, and new business development ideas and strategies.
In-depth reports also will have a home at RailPrime. First up: a “Staggers Act at 40” eBook reported and written by Managing Editor Jeff Stagl.
The Staggers eBook is something of a tipoff that we’ll be covering the short-line industry more aggressively than we have in recent years in our other information delivery vehicles. That said, we’ll also broaden our Class I coverage, and zero in on other links in the freight transportation chain, as well — in North America and beyond.
RailPrime subscribers also will have access to exclusive webcasts and discounts to other Progressive Railroading events.
As my colleague Amy Brown, director of events and education, puts it: “We are excited to extend the breadth and depth of content, in different formats for our Progressive Railroading audience. RailPrime will continue to build upon our reputation for covering the most important topics for the freight-rail industry.”
An annual subscription to RailPrime is $199; a monthly subscription is $19. For more information or to subscribe, visit www.progressiverailroading.com/railprime.
I hope you’ll check us out.
If we do what we say we’re going to do at RailPrime — and we’re going to — we’re confident we’ll be providing information that, in the aggregate, you won’t get anywhere else.
It’s something we’ll have to demonstrate consistently, of course. And over time.
We’re in this for the long haul.
