BART to monitor employees' Internet use

advertisement

San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) recently awarded a contract to Blue Coat™ Systems Inc. to provide a system to control workers’ Internet use.

The system is designed to filter and control instant message communication and Internet traffic without impacting performance. Keyword filtering would enable BART officials to block an attempted communication or send an alert if a defined keyword is found, as well as dictate when, how and who can use instant messaging.

Blue Coat also will provide detailed logs of instant message access and conversations for each network user, and archive information for further review.
