Senate approves FY2004 transportation funds

On Jan. 22, the Senate passed the Omnibus Appropriations bill, which includes fiscal-year 2004 transportation funding. The House passed the bill in December.

The bill would provide $7.27 billion in transit funding — $40 million more than the Administration’s request and $87 million more compared with fiscal-year 2003 funds — and $1.2 billion for Amtrak.

Congressional leaders now need the President’s signature to enact the legislation.
