Chicago Transit Authority recently completed platform renovations at the Red Line’s Jackson Station.

The $16.9 million project included reconstructing the platform between Adams and Van Buren, and building an underground transfer tunnel to provide a pedway connection between the Red and Blue line platforms at Jackson Station. The 660-foot platform now features energy-efficient lighting, acoustical panels to absorb noise, new communications equipment and street identifiers signs.

The new platform design is similar to platforms at CTA’s Roosevelt Road and Chicago Avenue stations, which were renovated in 1996 and 2001, respectively.

The platform renovation was funded by the Federal Transit Administration and Illinois FIRST.
