California's North County Transit District mulls land use options near stations

San Diego’s North County Transit District (NCTD) recently received a $245,000 California Transportation Commission and Office of Traffic Safety grant. The agency will use the proceeds to continue a study started in November 2003 to determine the best land use options around Oceanside Transit Center, Carlsbad COASTER commuter-rail station and Escondido Transit Center.

Recommendations could include developing better connections between rail and bus service; relocating or reconfiguring platforms, bus islands, or ticket offices; building new parking structures or lots; and developing commercial/retail/residential complexes.
