Tunisian railway obtains locomotive simulators to improve conductor training

France’s Corys T.E.S.S. recently delivered two locomotive simulators to Tunisian railway operator Société Nationale de Chemins de Fer Tunisiens (SNCFT).

Based on the railway’s EMD Diesel Inc. locomotives, the simulators feature a database covering 174 track miles and computer-generated image technology.

The equipment will be housed in SNCFT’s new training building, which also includes several classrooms.

The railway has developed a training program based on the simulators and expects to train 50 new and 750 current conductors annually.
