Spanish railway Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valencia recently awarded a $17.7 million contract to an Alcatel Transport Automation Solutions-led consortium to provide signal and communications technology for a control center on a 19.2-mile section of the Alicante-Denia line.

The consortium will provide technology for signaling, communications, traffic remote control, an automatic stopping system, level crossing protection and power supply systems.

Alcatel will supply its 6151 LockTrac Electronic Interlocking, which will control the line’s 10 stations, as well as its Automatic Block system on double and single track between the stations. The supplier also will equip the line with a 6617 NetTrac control center, providing centralized traffic control in La Marina Station.
