China’s Ministry of Railways recently placed a $424 million order for 20 eight-car high-speed trainsets from Bombardier Sifang Power Transportation Ltd. (BSP), a joint venture comprising Bombardier Transportation, Power Corp. of Canada, and China South Locomotive and Rolling Stock Industry Corp.

Bombardier will design the cars and manufacture propulsion equipment at its Vasteras, Sweden, plant, and manufacture bogies at its Siegen, Germany, facility. BSP will produce carbodies and complete final assembly in China. The cars are scheduled to be delivered between July 2006 and July 2007.
