The Associated General Contractors of St. Louis recently presented 2005 Keystone Awards to MetroLink Cross County extension contractors.

The association presented the “General Contractor-Industrial/Infrastructure Construction Project” award to McCarthy Building Cos., which is constructing the Facility 2 portion of the project, and “Specialty Contractor-Building Construction Project” award to Budrovich Excavating Inc.

Running between Kingsland and Ritz Carlton Drive, the Facility 2 segment is the most difficult portion of the eight-mile, $550 million Cross County construction, according to MetroLink. The segment includes building more than 1.3 miles of underground light-rail tunnels and two underground stations in a narrow space within a few feet of residential and commercial properties.
