Cubic Transportation Systems Ltd. recently obtained contracts totaling $9 million from four southern Sweden counties to provide smart-card collection systems.

Cubic currently is designing and installing a smart-card system for Skanetrafiken, which operates transit service in Skane, the region’s largest county. Cubic will install a similar system for the counties of Blekinge, Kronoberg, Halland and Jonkoping to link their transit services to “Resekortet,” the multi-modal smart card-based fare collection system that connects the region’s rail and bus services.

Cubic will provide software, a communications network, back office computer systems and equipment for processing fare collection on trains and buses, and at rail stations.
