New Jersey Transit’s police department recently received the U.S. Secret Service Director’s Recognition Award for "excellent law enforcement work" during the Republican National Convention Aug. 30-Sept. 2 in New York City.

Each day of the convention, NJ Transit Police — with assistance from New Jersey state police and other law enforcement agencies throughout the state — inspected every New York-bound train. The department also increased aerial railroad infrastructure patrols, K9 station and rail yard patrols, and bridge and tunnel monitoring.

In addition, NJ Transit activated its Emergency Operates Center, which monitored operations around the clock.
