Amtrak installs LED signals along Northeast Corridor

advertisement

Amtrak recently began retrofitting wayside signals, and grade crossing and control panel lights along the Northeast Corridor from incandescent lamps to light-emitting diodes (LED).

The national passenger railroad is installing the low-voltage devices — which feature GELcore L.L.C.’s TR3 LED signal modules — in Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware and Maryland. The LED signals are designed to improve visibility compared with standard lighting devices.

A joint venture between GE and EMCORE Corp, GELcore offers LED modules to retrofit commuter- and freight-rail signals.
