China’s Guangzhou Metro Corp. recently contracted Nokia to supply a digital radio communications system for a new line in Guangdong.

Based on Nokia’s TETRA technology, the system is designed to provide secure voice and data services.

Nokia also will provide TETRA base stations, a dispatcher work station and training services. The company is working with Shanghai Railway Communication Equipment Factory to implement the system.

Nokia plans to implement the system in second-half 2005.
