The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) recently began renovating Maverick Station. The authority will spend $55 million to transform the century-old station into a multi-modal transportation facility.

Part of the $750 million Blue Line modernization project, the station renovation calls for building new head houses to improve pedestrian access, extending platforms to accommodate six-car trains, and adding new escalators and elevators between the subway platform, and Maverick Square Plaza and Lewis Mall.
