Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority recently finished double-tracking a 2.7-mile section of Union Pacific Railroad-owned track between Caltrain’s Tamien and Capitol stations.
Designed to alleviate bottlenecks, the $24 million project included new concrete ties, continuous-welded rail and a signal system. Work began in late 2002.
