With one week left in fiscal-year 2006, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) registered its 200 millionth Metrorail trip of the year. The milestone reached June 22 marks the first time in the agency’s 30-year history that it’s carried more 200 million riders in a single fiscal year.

During FY2006, WMATA posted seven “Top 10” ridership days, four of which were recorded between June 13 and June 16 during a Washington Nationals homestand.

In FY2005, 195.2 million passengers rode the Metrorail system.
