Yesterday, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced the state will award $2.9 million in security funding to Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART).
The funds are being distributed through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Urban Area Security Grant Initiative (UASI) program. The grant is the largest BART has received through the UASI since 9/11.
BART isn’t disclosing details on the improvements it will make with the funds.
