Denver RTD launches Southeast Corridor service

Today, the Regional Transportation District of Denver (RTD) launched service on the Southeast Corridor, which more than doubles the agency’s light-rail system.

The 19-mile corridor is part of the $1.67 billion Transportation Expansion Project, a joint highway expansion/passenger-rail project launched in 2001 by RTD and the Colorado Department of Transportation.

Under its $897 million portion, RTD built the double-tracked, grade-separated Southeast light-rail line from the existing Broadway Station along the west side of Interstate 25 into Douglas County, and in the median of I-225 to Parker Road in Aurora.
