Los Angeles MTA seeks to raise awareness of future projects

Last week, the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA MTA) released its Long Range Transportation Plan for public review. This week, the agency launched a campaign to raise public awareness of the plan.

The plan priorities dozens of transit, highway and street projects to help address projected population growth of 2.4 million people by 2030. Among the transit plans: the Exposition light-rail extension to Santa Monica, Westside subway extension, Metro Gold Line extension to Montclair, and a regional connector linking the Metro Gold, Blue and Expo lines in downtown L.A.

However, LA MTA projects a shortfall of more than $60 billion to fund the projects.

The agency is counting on a new advertising campaign that includes billboard, rail and bus, and Web and newspaper advertising to encourage L.A.-area residents to visit a new interactive Web page where they can learn more about the current and proposed transportation projects, and funding options.
