BNSF Railway Co. is sending out a special "thank you" to its trucking partners at five intermodal terminals this week. As a part of National Truck Driver Appreciation Week, the Class I will recognize truck drivers at terminals in Fort Worth, Texas; Chicago and Willow Springs, Ill.; and San Bernardino and Los Angeles, Calif.

Truckers entering the facilities will receive refreshments and gifts handed out by BNSF's truckload sales team as part of a "Together We Deliver Value" campaign. The railroad also is sending celebration kits to many truck carriers, including J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc., Schneider National Inc., U.S. Xpress, Transport America, Werner Enterprises Inc., Yellow Roadway Corp. and Swift Transportation Co.

"Each year, BNSF celebrates its partnership with trucking companies by showing the railway's appreciation for their drivers," said George Duggan, BNSF vice president of domestic intermodal, in a prepared statement. "By working together, we are providing transportation solutions for companies across the nation."

BNSF partners with more than 75 domestic motor carriers to move more than 2 million trailers and containers annually. The Class I handles more than 5 million international and domestic intermodal shipments each year.

Meanwhile, Logistics Management magazine recently presented BNSF its 25th annual Quest for Quality Award in the rail/intermodal service-provider category.

BNSF beat the industry average in every award category and was the only western railroad to qualify. BNSF improved its scores for information technology, customer service, and equipment and operations compared with 2007, the railroad said.
