BNSF boots up intermodal/truck analysis tool
advertisement
BNSF Railway Co. recently launched an online tool to enable worldwide shippers and carriers to determine the benefits of using the Class I’s intermodal services, including potential cost savings.
Accessible at www.bnsf.com/prospective/cpcustomer.html, the Intermodal Transit Advisor provides cost and transit-time comparisons of BNSF’s service and trucks. The tool offers information on available routes, cutoff and availability times, transit time, and miles between origin and destination by mode.
In addition, a “savings estimator” analyzes route information and provides a custom report showing potential cost savings.
"Last year, [our] customers achieved significant savings by converting highway freight to BNSF intermodal, and experienced transit that is as fast and reliable as highway service," said Steve Branscum, BNSF group vice president-consumer products, in a prepared statement. "BNSF's Internet tools are open to all shippers and carriers so they can see for themselves the benefits of intermodal shipping."
