NS installs VP; UP shuffles operations staff

Norfolk Southern Corp. has named David Julian vice president-safety and environmental to succeed Charles Wehrmeister, who recently retired after a 40-year NS career. Julian will report to Executive VP of Operations Mark Manion.
 
Most recently president of automotive and supply chain services, Julian joined NS’ mechanical department in 1971. He later served in various marketing positions, including district sales manager, regional sales manager, director of automotive and group VP.

Meanwhile, Union Pacific Railroad has appointed:
• Rod Richardson superintendent-intermodal operations in Oakland, Calif., to succeed Terry Ryan, who’s retiring;
• David Giandinoto general superintendent-transportation services for the Chicago Service Unit to succeed Richardson;
• Kurt Zalar, general superintendent-transportation services for the Denver Service Unit to succeed John Rourke, who’s retiring;
• Ruben Lopez, superintendent-transportation services for the Wichita Service Unit to succeed Zalar;
• Jeff Moore, superintendent at the Harriman Dispatch Center in Omaha, Neb., and
• John Huddleston, superintendent-transportation services for the Pocatello, Idaho, Service Unit to succeed Moore.

Most recently, Giandinoto was director-transportation services for the Houston Service Unit, Zalar was superintendent-transportation services at the Wichita, Kan., Service Unit, Lopez was superintendent-coal operations in Gillette, Wyo., and Huddleston was director-road operations for the Fort Worth, Texas, Service Unit.
