Ohio city to create quiet zone

advertisement

The Ohio Rail Development Commission and city of Vermilion have reached an agreement to create a quiet zone in the heart of the community.

The multi-million-dollar project calls for closing one grade crossing and installing four-quadrant gates and lights at three other crossings. After the work is completed in about 18 months, the city will apply to the Federal Railroad Administration for a quiet zone designation.

The project will be funded through a combination of federal, state, local and railroad dollars, including a $935,000 federal appropriation.
