A new National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) member now is the agency’s vice chairman. Last week, President Obama tabbed Christopher Hart to fill that role.

Hart was sworn in as an NTSB member on Aug. 12 and his term will end Dec. 31, 2012. His term as vice chairman will run two years.

Hart, who previously was an NTSB member during the 1990s, was deputy director for air traffic safety oversight at the Federal Aviation Administration prior to joining the board. He is an aerospace engineer, attorney and licensed pilot.
