North Carolina Railroad installs Atkins as chair, Cameron as vice chair

The North Carolina Railroad Co.’s (NCRR) board recently elected John Atkins III chairman and Christie Cameron, vice chairman.

A board member since 2004, Atkins will succeed William Kincheloe, the railroad’s chair since 2006. Kincheloe will continue to serve as a board member.

Atkins is chairman and chief executive officer of architectural and engineering firm O'Brien/Atkins. Cameron is a lawyer and North Carolina Supreme Court clerk.

NCRR owns and manages a 317-mile rail corridor between Morehead City and Charlotte that handles more than 60 freight trains and eight passenger trains daily.
