Norfolk Southern Corp. has named Thomas Hurlbut vice president of audit and compliance to succeed Joseph Dimino, who plans to retire Jan. 31, ending his 33-year NS career. Beginning Feb. 1, Hurlbut will report to Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Wick Moorman.

Most recently assistant VP-internal audit, Hurlbut has served in various capacities since joining NS in 1992, including senior accountant, manager of financial reporting, director of corporate accounting, director of accounting research and analysis, and AVP of corporate accounting.

NS also elected Thomas Bell Jr., chairman of SecurAmerica L.L.C., as a board member. Last year, he retired as chairman and CEO of Cousins Properties.
