Global Partners, CP to bring ethanol trains to New York terminal

Yesterday, Global Partners L.P. announced a $5 million expansion and tank refurbishment project designed to add 180,000 barrels of ethanol storage capacity and enhance rail access at a refined petroleum products terminal in Albany, N.Y.

Jointly developed with Canadian Pacific, the project includes modifications to be completed by year’s end that will enable the terminal to schedule the delivery of 80-car ethanol trains. Global Partners plans to connect the terminal — which is located along the Hudson River — to CP’s adjacent Kenwood Yard via pipeline.

CP will build a rail-car unloading facility at the yard and Global Partners will convert two distillate storage tanks at the Albany facility to store gasoline. The project will increase storage capacity from 737,000 barrels to about 1.2 million barrels, according to Global Partners.
