Today, Canadian Pacific announced it reached a one-year agreement with Teck Coal Ltd. to move metallurgical export coal from CP-served mines in southeast British Columbia to Kamloops and Vancouver-area ports.

The Class I and Teck Coal plan to discuss a longer term contract.

Meanwhile, CSX Transportation yesterday recognized the milestone volume of aggregates shipped by Conrad Yelvington Distributors Inc. (CYDI), which began using rail to transport aggregates in 1979. CYDI’s Jacksonville, Fla., terminal recently marked 1 million rail cars shipped.

Each year, CYDI’s terminals handle up to 10 million tons of various aggregate materials, including sand, granite and limestone.
