The Battle River Cooperative will receive $59,196 from the Canadian government to develop a short line.

Part of the Co-operative Development Initiative (CDI), the project is intended to promote access to rail transportation for farmers’ grain crops.

CDI is a four-year, $18.9 million program designed to help Canadians develop new co-operatives and experiment with innovative ways of using the co-operative model. The Battle River Railway Co-operative has been working since 2003 to transport the grain crops of its 180 member farmers on CN's network.
