Last week, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers & Trainmen (BLET) First Vice President and Alternate President Dennis Pierce was elected president of the Teamsters Rail Conference. He will serve as the principal officer of the conference — which includes the BLET and Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employes Division (BMWED) — and be responsible for day-to-day affairs.

In addition, BLET Vice President Lee Pruitt was elected vice president and BMWED National Secretary-Treasurer Perry Geller Sr. was re-elected secretary-treasurer of the conference.

In other elections, BMWED President Freddie Simpson was re-elected to another four-year term in the union's top post, and Geller won re-election as BMWED’s secretary-treasurer. Simpson also serves as a Teamsters international vice president.

Regional BMWED vice presidents J. R. “Randy” Cook, David Joynt, Roger Sanchez, David Tanner and Henry Wise won re-elections and will serve another term.
