Wisconsin & Southern to serve fourth ethanol plant in Badger State

Last month, Iowa County officials approved River Valley Energies L.L.C.’s plan to build a 50 million-gallon-capacity ethanol plant in Arena, Wis.

The plant will be served by the Wisconsin & Southern Railroad Co. (WSOR), which will transport 70 percent of the materials moving into and out of the facility, including about 15 million bushels of corn annually. Trucks will move the remainder.

River Valley Energies expects to break ground on the plant this winter and begin construction in January or February 2007.

The Arena facility will be the fourth Wisconsin ethanol plant to be served by WSOR. The 700-mile regional currently serves a Badger State Ethanol plant in Monroe and a Utica Energies facility near Oshkosh. In January, WSOR will begin serving a new 50 million-gallon-capacity United Ethanol plant in Milton.
