Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency Program (CREATE) partners recently launched a website for the 75th Street corridor improvement project at www.75thcip.org. The site provides study information and links to environmental documents, newsletters, project schedules and upcoming public events.

The 75th Street corridor project combines CREATE projects P2, P3, EW2 and GS19 into a single entity for an Environmental Impact Statement study. The combined project is designed to reduce rail congestion and delays between the Dan Ryan Expressway and Ashburn, as well as increase capacity for Metra trains and eliminate rail traffic conflicts between the Metra SouthWest service and CSX Transportation, Norfolk Southern Railway and Belt Railway Co. of Chicago lines, according to CREATE officials.

A public/private partnership program, CREATE includes more than 46 rail and 25 grade separation projects that call for restructuring, modernizing and expanding Chicago’s rail network. CREATE partners include Amtrak, the Association of American Railroads, Belt Railway, BNSF Railway Co., CSXT, CN, Canadian Pacific, Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad Co., NS, Union Pacific Railroad, the Illinois and Chicago Departments of Transportation, and Federal Highway Administration.
