House-approved appropriations bill proposes funds for Maricopa grade separation

The recently House-passed fiscal-year 2011 Transportation, Housing and Urban Development and Related Agencies Appropriations bill includes $1 million for a grade separation project in Maricopa, Ariz.

The project calls for rerouting highway traffic on state route 347 either over or under a Union Pacific Railroad line.

The bill still must be approved by the Senate, included in a joint House-Senate conference report and then signed by President Obama.

“Any funding from the federal government will put the city on the path to construction of this vital project, and we will continue to pursue federal funding for this project now and in the future,” Maricopa officials said in a prepared statement.
