In July, the Transportation Services Index (TSI) reached 101.1, up 0.3 percent from June’s level and 2.1 percent from July 2009’s index, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS).

July’s Freight TSI of 98.2 rose 0.4 percent on a month-over-month basis, climbing for the second-straight month. The index also increased 2.5 percent on a year-over-year basis. However, through 2010’s first seven months, the Freight TSI declined 1.3 percent compared with the same 2009 period.

July’s Passenger TSI of 111.2 was flat vs. June’s level but increased 0.6 percent vs. July 2009’s index.
